Introduction

For my thesis, I decided to examine all branches and effects of child maltreatment.I chose this certain topic because I have known far too many people that have been abused by their parents or caregivers and I wanted to shed some light on the seemingly taboo subject My reason for doing this topic is to try and raise awareness of this issue and to try and help people who may be going through something such as this.

Hi, my name is Moriah Gonzalez. I am going to William Paterson University to pursue a degree in psychology with an emphasis on abnormal psychology. I typically like to stay in and watch Marvel movies or read a book or two. For my thesis, I

decided to analyze all types and branches of child abuse to bring more awareness to the seemingly taboo subject and hopefully inspire some change to this issue.

Abstract

Child abuse of all ages is an ongoing epidemic, one that is skyrocketing in the number of cases every year. Whether the abuse in question is physical, emotional, neglect, or sexual, it is hard to deny the growing problem in today’s society. The beginning of a solution to this issue is to inform people of the severity of what is happening to these children and the effects it is leaving. Ultimately, people need to be inspired to help in some way or least understand a less extreme version of parenting.
